A graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School and Hofstra University with a degree in film production. Upon returning to Cape Cod in 2010, Josh became an active member of the community, devoting his free time to activism and volunteerism. Josh currently chairs the Dennis Democratic Town Committee and Dennis Housing Trust. He is also a member of the Dennis Planning Board, the Barnstable County Home Consortium, and the Community Partnership Committee. Josh also ran for State Representative in the First Barnstable District in 2020, coming up just shy of a victory. Josh continues to advocate for his platform of building a year-round economy in a tourist-based economy.
George "Leo" Blandford
The director of Community Based Care, at Outer Cape Health Services. Leo works in a department designed to incorporate community outreach services into the medical health setting. Over the past twenty years, Leo has worked at the American Red Cross National Headquarters where he supported business operations in the international relief and development programs, which included a three-year field placement in Sri Lanka working on tsunami relief efforts. More recently, he has worked in a range of social services in Massachusetts, including youth and families through the Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative, outpatient behavioral health therapy, homeless outreach, and has experience with two state agencies at the Department of Children and Families and the Department of Mental Health as a clinical social worker.
Nathan is the owner of Bread + Roses Bookstore and Cafe in Hyannis. Following law school in Washington DC, Nathan served as a staff attorney and ultimately the Deputy Vice President for International Operations at the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). Following this experience, he was hired to lead the animal rights organization Rise for Animals where he worked for five years. He is also the founder of the Center for Contemporary Sciences - a nonprofit science and technology accelerator focused on the advancement of human-relevant technologies to replace animal experimentation and more effectively create cures for people. He has served on the Board of the Conservation Measures Partnership, and the Animal Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and volunteered his expertise in strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation to many small and large nonprofit organizations. He lives in Sandwich with his two children and a horde of rescue animals.
Cerise received her BA in psychology from UMass Lowell. She has over 7 years of experience in social work including therapeutic mentoring, case management, counseling, social justice advocacy, work with LGBTQ+, behavior analysis, and youth psychoeducation. She is fluent in Spanish and trauma-informed. She is passionate about empowering People of Color and other oppressed communities. Her approach to this work is compassionate and accepting of all, especially in support of the mental wealth of individuals and their needs.
Ian grew up in the Greater Boston area and since he can remember, has been passionate about social change and community building, in part due to the influence of his incredible big sister. After graduating from UMass Amherst in 2008 he began his career in fitness as an Athletic Training Coach, Personal Trainer, and Group Fitness Instructor. He spent the majority of that time employed by Equinox and Public Body, a Boston-based bootcamp community.
Wanting to make a bigger social impact, Ian pivoted careers by attending The Heller School of Brandeis University where he earned his MBA in Nonprofit Management with a focus on Community and Social Impact. This program led him to his current role at the nonprofit fitness community, InnerCity Weightlifting. ICW’s mission is to amplify the voice and agency of those most impacted by mass incarceration and systemic racism.
He has proudly made it his life’s work to abolish the US’s system of prison, punishment, and patriarchal white supremacy and replace it with human-focused love and support systems. Ian is excited to use the knowledge he has gathered from his academic, work, and personal experience to help B FREE grow and flourish to end the stigma and epidemic of addiction.
Alyssa has worked in the field of substance abuse for over 11 years. Throughout this time, she has held different positions that have provided her with the experience of the different aspects that the interruption of addiction can cause. From taking the initial call of crisis and devastation to seeing the beautiful transformation that can occur. She has worked in the past at Recovering Champions, Gosnold, and now Serenity. She believes in empowering those working in Recovery to live healthy, sustainable lives, and that movement and mindfulness are an integral part of that journey.
Jennifer Rose is the owner of J. Rose Back Office Resources operated out of South Dennis, MA. Jenn’s business executes and organizes administrative tasks and builds workflows remotely for small businesses located nationally. She is a change agent and future-focused and adds value to the organizations that she works with by incorporating her customer service, financial, human resources, and administrative skills into customizable solutions for each business. Prior to Jenn going full-time in her business, she was the HR & Payroll Manager for a local Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The FQHC provided medical, mental health, substance use disorder (SUD) services and case management to the underserved population. Jenn’s support role helped her gain insight into the growing need for mental health support and SUD services that are desperately needed on Cape Cod.
She is dedicated to using her experience in both the public and private sectors to broaden access to high-quality services by supporting innovation, reducing barriers to entry, and building strong communities.
Jenn was born in Dennis and has raised her 3 children in Dennis as well. After graduating from Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School, Jenn worked in Hospitality Management for many years, started her family, then returned to college as an adult. She holds a BA in Management with a concentration in Human Resources from Curry College. Jenn has strong ties to the Cape Cod community and serves as a secretary on a local school board and another non-profit that guides aspiring and current small businesses on The Cape.
Muska Yousuf is the founder of the Law Office of Muska Yousuf. Her law firm focuses on providing legal services to low-income communities who need help in the family and probate court. In 2020 and 2021, she was named a Rising Star by the SuperLawyers organization, a distinction given out to no more than 5% of the attorneys in the state. In 2021, Cape and Plymouth Magazine named her one of the Top 40 Under 40 business leaders of the region. She is also a consultant for the Women & Girls Fund of Cape Cod, an offshoot of the Cape Cod Foundation.
Brian has been in banking for longer than he has done anything else. He knew that he wanted to help people and started by helping the greatest generation retire the way they wanted to, with dignity. Taking a more conservative approach to supporting himself and his family, Brian went to work in banking with the idea that he would be able to help more people. Quickly finding that he was drawn to helping his teammates. Brian moved into managing branches instead of managing a portfolio. Brian is currently working for Salem Five growing in his career and extending his network, always working to help business owners grow their businesses.
Damon C. Green
Brian is an entrepreneur and a dog enthusiast/lover who recently established his professional dog training business here on Cape Cod. Serving as a member of the Cape Cod Times Diversity Advisory Group, Damon is focused on the betterment of our community. As an Army veteran, Damon is always offering volunteer support to the veteran community. He is a lover of artistic expression and is an experienced recording/performing artist and poet who creates under the stage name KAIROS. Damon also serves as a Brand Ambassador for Cape Life Brand Company and D'IYANU.m across the US and as far as South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Hungary, and Egypt.
